European Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians

About EAVLD

EAVLD is a non profit making, independent association of individual members with the mission of improving veterinary and public health by providing a platform for communication among veterinary laboratory diagnosticians and to promote the highest standards in European veterinary laboratories.

The initiative to establish the EAVLD originates from CoVetLab which is a group of five European Government Veterinary Laboratories (www.covetlab.org). The aim of CoVetLab has always been to advance high quality veterinary science by dissemination of knowledge, sharing of experience and the transfer of skills and technology between the members.  In 2008 they wanted to broaden that collaboration, especially with respect to high quality veterinary diagnostics at a European level.  Modeling itself to the World Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (WAVLD) and the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD), a European Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (EAVLD) was the most logical step towards a strong diagnostic network. The desire is to create an inclusive forum for veterinary laboratory scientists working in all disciplines across the full range of species.
